Piss-poor Daily Mail Journalism on Their Website

Since they won’t publish my comment on their website, I suppose I had better write about it here!

I used to visit the brand new Daily mail website every day, because the stories were good, the entertaiment articles (although tacky) were absorbing, and all of the articles were full of good photography… however, I’ve somehow only just realised how bullshit the actual content is on some of the crap they run.

For instance, take the day after Obama became President – they ran a story entitled “Hallelujah again! Joyous X Factor starlet Alexandra Burke celebrates Obama presidency“. Amongst the plethora of wank paragraphs within the article was one which read…

Despite the celebrations, Burke’s ‘inauguration’ outfit was somber compared to first lady Michelle Obama, who was stunning in a one-shouldered floor length white gown that she wore for ten different balls.

Before I knew it, I had finished the article – and I then suddenly realised that the “story” contained absolutely nothing that suggested Alexandra was out “celebrating” Obama’s inauguration. She was simply out for a meal with a mystery man. That paragraph above was literally the only “link” in the paragraph.

So what they did was piece two random “things that happened” into one botched job of a story. I actually sent a comment in to them which was never published which said:

My black next door neightbour went out for a curry last night, does that mean he was celebrating?

No wonder the article was written by “Daily Mail reporter” – because no-one in their right mind would have the courage to put their name to that piece of five second crap. It beggars belief that they can get away with this kind of journalism.

Meanwhile, here’ an excellent News website.
