Happy New Year…

Lots of things have changed since I last wrote. A new year, a new company to go under, a new BBC personality scandal… and Jeff Stelling is now the host of Countdown – it’s all going on!
I’ve had quite a busy last few weeks. I had a fantastic Christmas, and it was great to spend it with my family and friends – and I got some fantastic presents, all of which are really good, and none of which I’ll need to stock away in the “what the fuck?” drawer.
My biggest piece of news (I suppose) is deciding to leave Ferndown Locomotive – probably the best football team in Dorset if you take away all those better than them. I chose to do this for a number of reasons, the main one being that I simply want my weekends back. I’m working harder than ever on this site – and with things stepping up a gear at work, and a general willingness to succeed – one of my activities had to go, and, unfortunately (for my football boots at least), I decided it was the activity that I was enjoying the least.

The lads are great, and the football has been sublime (every other week!), but there came a point a while back when I realised that I practically lost my whole Sunday due to one game of football – I couldn’t sleep before it, I’d come home shattered, and then spend the rest of the day either asleep or in agony!
Music wise I’ve been well off the boil – don’t know what the hell is good and what isn’t – and also, I haven’t had a “download day” in quite a while. The next band I’m seeing live will be Glasvegas in Portsmouth on February 19th. I am really really looking forward to this gig as I just absolutely adore them – should be a good old night. Then in March we’re nipping up to see The Dykeenies at the Talking Heads, which is going to be bloody amazing – a fantastic band!
So what is life going to hold in 2009? Well, I have made a few New Years Resoutions – one of them was to not drink coffee after 6pm (despite the fact that I was over the moon when Sophie bought me a coffee machine the other day), another resolution is to be humble and sincere in defeat – something which I am terrible at doing, as I often always come across as a complete arsehole. Also, it is to expand my horizons a bit – quite a generalised statement there, however all it merely involves is, instead of me instantly dismissing an idea, thing, or event – actually maybe I should go ahead and do it/taste it/go there – it may well prove to be quite enriching.
I suppose all these resolutions came true this weekend actually where I went to Sophie C’s 21st birthday. I did something I hate doing – dressing up, I didn’t drink coffee after 6pm, and thirdly, I was humble in the defeat when (my) Sophie decided that we would go dressed as hippies.
Mad shit.
