Two Prices on Product Page Which Has an Option

I was contacted last week by someone who was having a problem, whereby if they had an option on one of their Magento products – be it colour, size etc – the product price would appear twice – once in its usual place, and then once again by the drop down box.  Well this isn’t unusual behavior and is infact standard in Magento.

If you’re looking to get rid of the second price, it is pretty simply to do.  Simplay navigate via FTP to app/design/frontend/default/default/layout/catalog.xml and search for the text “Product View”.

Once you’ve found this you’ll need to comment out the following line:

 

So it now will look like….

<!-- <block type="catalog/product_view" name="product.clone_prices" as="prices" template="catalog/product/view/price_clone.phtml" /> -->

This should do it just nicely.
