Bar So – Exeter Road, Bournemouth

Located on the West side of Bournemouth, Bar So is a really popular night-time venue for clubbers in town, mainly due to its excellent location, and its latent ability to attract decent professional types, with a welcome lack of chav everywhere you look. It is a large venue with a spacious and welcoming main upper bar (drinks are served in the middle), and then downstairs is an extensive and long area – usually used for Salsa dancing on a weekday.
Drinks prices are pretty expensive, and sometimes it takes a while to get served considering cocktails are very popular here. Other than that small glitch, Bar So is great – with excellent music, a great vibe, but still sociable – therefore you won’t be to be drowned out by the constant noise!
This place has recently been done up, therefore its decor is fantastic, the staff are very courteous, and there’s no “freshen up” in sight – making going to the loo a very enjoyable experience! Similarly, if you are a smoker, there is an extensive smoking area at the front of the building – as well as a well cool and comfortable chill out decking area at the back – a fantastic little area which almost makes me want to light up myself.
This has been voted Best Bar for a number of years now in various awards ceremonies, and it is fully deserved too – a great place to have a drink. I did spend the evening try to justify having a sordid dream about a fellow university colleague to everyone for most of it – but for the time that I wasn’t put under the spotlight, it was an extremely enjoyable time!!
