Oasis and Other Live Music

Well I went to watch Oasis at the BIC on Monday, and I’ve got to say they were incredible. I have never seen them live before, but I have seen videos of them in their gigs, and from what I’ve seen on the screen I’ve always been unimpressed.
However on Monday they delivered a polished performance, and given the decent acoustic qualities in the Windsor Hall, they sounded amazing, with Noel particularly impressing. They rolled out a load of classic hits from Whats the Story and Definitely Maybe, and amongst a number of other tunes they premiered a load of tracks from their new album - I especially like Falling Down. Interesting though that not one track from Be Here Now was played… which kind of echoes what we all thought of it in the first place!
In the next month I’m seeing Sigur Ros, The Automatic and Enter Shikari, but the gig I’m most looking forward to is The Red Light Company at the Joiners in Southampton. I’m really looking forward to it. I saw their MySpace a few weeks ago, and their anthemtic tunes hooked me in instantly. They were on Zane Lowe this evening on Radio One, and he tips big things for them, so it’ll be fantastic to see them.
Meanwhile I’m quite pleased to see “Love Bites and Bruises” (containing a couple of former Motorettes band members) finally managing to get a bit of attention… I always liked this band back in the day, and they’ve announced that they are supporting The Futureheads in December. I just checked out their MySpace and you can tell that the ex-Motorettes pair have had a big hand in writing the tracks - very similar stuff indeed, but just as catchy.
