Add a Coupon into an Existing Order

Hello – I need some How To Help – we are now with our new Magento System live. In some cases we get to the point where customers forget to add the coupon code into the order. Using the backend to add the coupon is a extremely cumbersom as we are using configurable products – which results that Magento requires to cancel the old order and create a new one. Is there a simpler way to add a coupon into an order that is not yet invoiced ?
