Wiki/How to… Quickstart Guide to Magento, Authorize.net and Merchant Accounts
I’m trying to put together a simple quickstart step-by-step tutorial on how to set up a Magento store to accept payments through Authorize.net.
I will post it on the Wiki when completed. It is, of course, also for my own use.
I would really appreciate any input/answers on this and feedback as to whether the following is correct:
Quickstart Guide to Magento, Authorize.net and Merchant Accounts
1.Prerequisites for accepting Credit Card payments:
-A Magento install with a fixed IP and SSL Certificate
-A Gateway Account with Authorize.net [Que: which type of Authorize.net account should users sign up for]
-A Merchant Account with a bank, such as Chase Paymentech [Que: can anyone provide some other possibilities?]
2.Configuring Magento
-Once you have the above three, the first step is to configure Magento to speak to Authorize.net when processing payments. Complete information for doing this can be found in the Magento User Guide here (scroll to authorize.net section)
http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/welcome_to_the_magento_user_s_guide/chapter_4#payment_methods_and_paypal_accounts
-Most hosting providers will be able to sell you a fixed IP and SSL certificate. If they can’t, you should probably change host.
3.Set Up Authorize.net to accept transactions
(NB: Your Gateway Account processes credit cards for you securely. It is the link between Magento and your bank/Merchant Account)
-[Que: Do I need to give Authorize.net my IP address or domain? Is there a form to fill out on authorize.net or is this part of the sign-up process?]
-Once you have a Merchant Account (ex. Chase Paymentech), you configure Authorize.net to deposit payments to that account
3.Set Up and configure your Merchant Account
(NB: Your Merchant account is the institution that accepts the credit card payment amounts. Generally this is a service offered by a bank)
-[Que: Can a user specify a standard bank account to authorize.net or must this be a special, e-commerce ready type of bank account?]
So is that it? If these three parts of the process are linked
Good guide on getting started with Magento.
We’ve been using Magento and Authorize.net for over a year now. Everything worked great. However, recently we set up Authorized.net Fraud Protection suite to hold suspicious transactions for reviews. And Magento does not properly handles responses for the transactions that are held for reviews. Firs of all, it displays very confusing message to a customer: “Gateway error: Your order has been received. Thank you for your business! “. Secondly, it does not create an order in the system. Do you have an answer for this situation?
Thanks in advance,
Natalie
Did anyone come up with an answer for Natalie’s question? We are having the same confusing issue!
