Does My Magento Site Look Big in This?

With the rise of Web 2.0 came cleaner, more beautiful looking web-sites.  The beauty with these sites is that they are crisp, they load quick, and they are clear – and that is mainly down to the fact that they are coded with CSS, therefore making tables a thing of the past.

Although CSS is rather beautiful, and is constantly developing, it can prove troublesome when you’re trying to achieve a web-site which must look the same across every different browser, computer, platform, resolution, language, operating system etc!

Since Magento is completely Web 2.0 with not a table in sight, you may find that if you’re fiddling around with the CSS, that on one browser your site may look different to another.  Your right column content might be in the correct place on Firefox, but it may well be half way down the page on Internet Explorer!

Fortunately, there’s a web-site out there which will check your website in lots of different browsers and will even paste a screenshot for you, so you know exactly what your site looks like to the wide and varied public!

Browsershots is fantastic!  You simply enter your web-address, and then bookmark the link they give you.. and within about 10 minutes you can return to see screenshots of your website in the scroes of different browsers they provide!  Sometimes it can take up to half an hour for them to post back the screenshots… depending on how many browsers you decided to check, but it is definitely a tool that I’d recommend!
