When I edit an order that has grouped products it give me the follow message:

“This order contains (grouped) items and therefore cannot be edited through the admin interface at this time, if you wish to continue editing the (grouped) items will be removed, the order will be cancelled and a new order will be placed”

If you continue all of the products are removed and then I have to manually add those products.  Why is it that grouped items are removed from the new invoice?  Is there a way to stop this from happening?

All my products in my currently shopping cart system are in the format:

http://www.domain.com/product-name-p-xxx.html

To keep my current links in search engines, I would like to redirect these to:

http://www.domain.com/product-name.html

What is the syntax to strip the “-p-xxx” from the URL in the htaccess file?

I’m trying to bypass the cart and go right to checkout on a click of a “Buy Now” button ( that will replace the Add to Cart Button ). 

We are developing a one product Magento store and don’t need the cart functionality.  There is only one configuration of the item and it is only possible to purchase 1 at a time.  Once a customer decides to buy the item, we want them to go directly to checkout with the item in their cart.

I have some ideas on how to approach this regarding php headers but I was wondering if the community might give me more insight and advice on how to tackle this.

I am trying to figure out how to get access to a Media_Image attribute and get the URL to the uploaded image. In my case I have created a new Media Image Attribute type called ‘fabric’ that has store level visibility and allows an image to be selected at the product level to represent the fabric of the product. I am looking to modify the product view and list templates to show this image.

I have been able to get the set of attributes for the product and identify the specific attribute I am looking for, but I cannot get any further. I am unable to get the image from that Attribute. I would like to find a way to pull the specific attribute ‘fabric’ for a given product and then get access to the image attributes - specifically the URL.

I’m working in the catalog list and any guidance would be appreciated.

I have a potential workaround to add a label to the image and iterate through the gallery images to find the specific label, but this isn’t optimal.

I have been searching this for a couple hours and cannot get it to work.  I saw the video about static blocks in categories.  I did not get it working then.  Then I searched static block for columns and got closer.  I actually get the alt text of the image code to display but cannot get the images to display and I am pretty sure the paths are correct.  There is 3 different ways I try to display it in the div box.  Why wont it display, but the alt="Affiliate Program..” (alternative text) will display.

It displays:

When I re-upload an image file after clicking “Remove” on the original, Magento takes the liberty of renaming the file to filename_1.jpg. 

1) Why is Magento renaming my image file without my permission?  The file names of images are important for SEO purposes.

2) Assuming Magento renames because the original file is still on the server - this begs the question - why is the original image file still on the server?  I requested that the system “Remove” it. 

3) I tried to browse to the location:  /media/catalog/product/t/r/tricomin-conditioner_1.jpg myself to delete the file.  Naturally there was no such directory to be found.  Only media/downloadable and media/import.

We are trying to implement the ship to multiple addresses functionality without forcing the users to create an account.  I was wondering if this exists or if anyone has come up with anything, possibly using sessions to store the different addresses that will allow this to happen.

I think I have a problem setting the inventory up correctly for my site, first some background:

I run a business that sells most products by weight (but not always).  I also do not like the system of displaying prices like ‘starting price’, starting price + a, starting price + b etc.

What I have opted for is to create seperate simple products and then associate them within a grouped product. 

Eg,

25g herb1 (simple prod)
50g herb1 (simple prod)
100g herb1 (simple prod)

herb1 (grouped prod)

This works great and displays things how I like them.  However I have just discovered a possible hitch.

The inventory is not compatable to my knowledge with this ?

Eg,

I weigh my orders as I go, so I do not have pre prepared and bagged weights.  This leads to a case where each simple product of the same herb (but different weights as shown above) can be set to have a quantity but the quantities do not add up within the grouped product.  So I could have a situation where the inventory says I am all sold out of 25g amounts BUT I am in stock with a 100g amount.  Which makes no sense at all ?

I cannot predict my orders well enough to set the quantities in a proportion that is suitable.

My questions are:

Is there a work around for this?
Can I for example turn the inventory OFF for simple products and setup an inventory with Quantity for grouped products?  Taking into account not all products on the site will be sold by weight and therefore this must be an option I can change dependant on product type.
